An existing Roundhouse customer has now done what we always thought would be a good idea. They have mounted a small 1KW wind turbine to the centre column of a RH30.
Standing approx 2m above the roof the turbine will create enough power for the building lighting and weigh system and could be linked to neighbouring buildings if necessary.
The unit cost installed is just under £3,000 and the manufacturer believes they could put a 2.5KW system on the building now that they have done the 1KW system. The system can also be linked to the mains for FITs but that probably isn’t justifiable on the smaller system.
Where this become attractive is if you don’t have mains electricity to the site or if you want a sustainable project.
